Welcome to another podcast episode, podcast number thirty five. Today I'm going to talk about making peace with technology. But in the first place, I wanted to say that from now on, I've decided to shorten the length of the podcast episodes to less than to any minutes, so that they're jam packed, that I can grab them anywhere you, I mean, Um, in between any of your tasks. So Um, yeah, you're going to get a lot of information in less than to any minutes from now on. Well, about this very topic technology. Um, as I consider myself as a technical woman, starting, Um, twenty years ago with my studies and electrical engineering, and then go into the workplace in the IT industry and doing everything with it t um. I didn't, I mean, have any problem with technology and being consistent with technology and being up to date with technology. And...

Oh, I wasn't aware of the problems that a lot of people might have with technology, and it wasn't up until the time that I became a mom that I understood. Well, Um, there is a lot of problem around being consistent with technology, UM, specifically with the MOMS or the women in general, and that grabs my attention. And then I started searching about benchmarking, where the reasons we're the problems that people have, um, and that brought me to a very comprehensive solution about um making piece with technology that I'm going to tell you at the end of this podcast episode. But before that, in order to make sure that you're on the same page, Um, I want to tell you a little bit about the definition of technology. Well, in theory, the definition of technology the application of knowledge there are from different fields of science that is meant to facilitate our lives. So in theoretical definition, technology is not a bad thing. But what happens that a lot of people are against technology. What happens that a lot of people are afraid of technology, that is what, Um makes me triggered to think about it more in depth, to benchmark, to search and to find solution for that. But this podcast episode is gonna be the interdaciplinary topic for entering the Um Realm of technology, I think because it's something related to your mindset, your restrictive mindset around technology, and I'm gonna give you some tips and tricks and systems in order to make you feel that you are prepared to learn about technology and, Um, you can put it like this, making peace with technology. Okay, so, Um, like I always, I have a systematic approach towards doing things, for making peace with technology. I Um have a system for you. So let's get to the first step. Um. In the first step I want you to define what's your hatred mindset around technology, I mean defined for yourself. I'm gonna give you some so of the options so that you can get Um, what are the hatred mindsets? Um Mindsets like Um, well, technology is not useful for me, something like it's dangerous for me, like it's limitating, like I can to make it the technology, I cannot keep off the technology, like it's embarrassing that I don't know technology and I don't want to be in the position that I want to...

...ask, for example, something about technology for someone. So these are some of the options, some of the reasons why you hate technology, and so you need to define it exactly for yourself. What are your reasons for, um I mean hating technology, for not being in peace with technology, for not finding technologies kind of peaceful Um realm for yourself? So in the second step I want you to start questioning your assumptions. So the previous step, what did you do? You derive some of the pre assumptions of yourself in your mind about technology. You assume that you don't like technology because you cannot, you cannot make it, you cannot understand it. You assume that it is limitating because, for example, someone told you that technology will restrict your social um inter actions. You assume that technology is dangerous because, for example, you have heard that there are a lot of miss, I mean Um applications of technology that can deteriorate your privacy, that can, um I mean be harmful about your for your privacy or stuff like that. You assume that, UM, technology is not useful for you because, for example, you your job or your career or your I mean roles are not dependent on technologies. So these are your assumptions. I want you, in the second step, to start questioning yourself around then. And what do I mean by questioning? I mean that, Um, just see, um, I mean just consider yourself at the end of the spectrum. Okay, what if, UM, technology is useful for me? What if technology is not dangerous? What if technology is not not limitating? What if I can make it and I can keep up with technology? What if, Um, I don't feel embarrassed about using technology? So, Um, you don't know how to strategically use technology and you don't know how to Um facilitate your life with technology. But Um, this doesn't mean that you can't do it. This doesn't mean that it's not useful, this doesn't mean that it's embarrassing, this doesn't mean that it is dangerous. There are always of the assumptions in our mind and every once in a while we need to just um question them. Okay. Well, why do I think like that? And it is a very good practice that I can write it down for yourself and out of the answers that you can see on the piece of paper in front of you, which is what is in your mind about those assumptions. You can get to know what was...

...the result of your hatred about technology, and this step is very important because it can help you to make peace with technology in a faster pace. So when you write it down for yourself, you were supposed to question Um, I mean start questioning your assumptions. You can find some reasons for those assumptions. Maybe, for example, Um, you assume that it is limitating, it limits the social interactions of yours. So whenever you're questioning this mindset, you might reach to this point that, well, what if it is the fake news? What if, Um, it's on the contrary, it can help me to be more socially active, because you know, some of the times we are Um, surrounded by a lot of I mean faith news, by a lot of Um in the first side, attention grabbing contents that doesn't have any backbone, like, for example, the digital detox, which is a very good topic, which is a very good thing. Every once in a while we can do that, but some of people try to convince you that, okay, you need to be afraid of technology, you need to be away from technology in order to fill in peace. But in the contrast, okay. In the contrary, uh, there are a lot of great applications of technology that it can use it for your own benefit. You can take the benefits out of technology for your peace, for your facilitating your life, and you're living in a modern world that you need to Um be encountered your technology. You're living in a modern, volved as always. I'm emphasizing about that. So start questioning what are those limitating beliefs, and then, Um, start to see those assumptions from another perspective, to try to find the reasons behind them and try to, I mean, help yourself to let go of those limitating beliefs. Maybe, for example, I don't have the right infrastructure to learn technology and that's why I feel embarrassed about asking others. Maybe I need to find a place, a safe, safe place, so that it can help me to start learning technology and feel more confident. Maybe I don't know how to strategically use technology with boundaries, and that's why I think that it is limitating and I think that it deteriorates my plans and schedules and I think that, for example, that's a bad Um thing to have...

...in my life. So starting questioning your assumptions is a very powerful way to convince yourself that, okay, well, you need to do something about that and you need to be in peace with technology. This was the second step, and the third step I want you to uh, know about the importance of technology and be open to consider it. You know, some of the times we don't even consider it, we don't even Um, allow our mind to think about it. But I want to grab your attention to this very fact that we are living in a very modern world. We are living in the world that every second something new is invented. We are living in the world that our mobile devices are upgraded every two three months. and Um, we need to keep hoppy. The technology can open. The technology doesn't mean to have, Um, the latest, I mean electronic devices. It means that we need to be able to work with them for facilitating our life and for easy in our situations. And for Um, I mean to reap the benefits of the technology for our life, to facilitate it. Um, the world is aligned with technology, and so we should be aligned with technology. We cannot hate technology because because of a lot of limitating mindset and then be be out of the wagon of the world. This modern world. A lot of people are um competent with the technology and you want to go away and you want to run away from them. That's not the approach that you should have in this modern world. You know, you need to be in the same wagon of technology, but use it just Um, the way that you want to use it. You need to learn the techniques to control technology, to learn technology, to keep up with the technology, and in this way you would feel confident enough to live in this modern world, because technology can broaden your horizon in a ton of ways. It can bring a lot of opportunities for you, both in your career and profession, in your education, in even fostering better relationship between you and your children and your husband and your family and everybody, because a lot of the Times, Um, we feel we feel that we are deprived in our relationship with the especially the juvenile people, for high tech people these days, Um, we feel that we're deprived, and that's because we don't know anything about technology and when they start to...

...have a conversation about technology, we feel that we're not confident enough to start talking with them and that terminates our conversation with them and that deteriorates our relationship. And what if we think of learning technology as a way to foster a better relationship between our children and ourselves? You know, just think about it in one minute and, Um, you know about the importance of technology. It literally can practically boost your confidence. Boost your confidence. You know, hear me, it literally can boost your confidence and boost I mean having a good self. Confidence doesn't mean repeating some, I don't know, empowering sentences like I can't do it, I want to do it. You know they're not Um, you know their nonsense. What you need to do is to learn skills and to be empowered, and then we can feel confident enough to do things. We need to practically be confident. We don't want to Um, I don't know. We don't want to waste our time and energy on doing the things that are not useful and living in a modern world, we need to learn about modern skills, and keeping up with the technology is one of them. So this was about the importance of technology. Please convince yourself that technology is important. Do whatever you want to do, search about it, ask other people, do whatever you want to do and just be convinced that technology is important. That was number three. In number four step number four, I want you to set meaningful reasons for yourself to learn technology, now that you know the importance of it, now that you know the limitating mindset, now that, Um, you questioned you, you start questioning your assumptions. Um, as a result of all of them, please try to write down some reasons for learning technology, because otherwise you won't, Um, I mean, be able to keep the momentum whenever you are you are in the path of learning technology. I mean it's a very complicated path, as learning any skill or as learning anything, and you may feel that, Um, you're not convenient because you're Um, stepping out of your comfort zone. You are entering your fear zone in order to learn something, as I've explained it before, and uh, you need some meaningful reasons behind every one of your goals and plans, Um, so that it can help you whenever you feel unmotivated or, Um, you feel that you're discouraged, you can go and take a look at them in order to feel refreshed. So that is a very important reason, um. For me, it is, I mean, learning technology is to Um, keep up with my profession, be successfully...

...my profession, Um, be an empowered woman, as a role model for my girl. And and by that I don't mean that if you don't know the technology, you're not an empowered woman. But living in a modern world convinced me that one of the important factors in order to keep up and to live in this modern world is to learn about technology. is one of the important skills. Well, after step number four, we want to go to step number five, which is being extra, extra, extra open to learn and to be challenged and to be committed to this path of learning technology. You know, learning technology might, uh, I mean, be a little bit inconvenient for you, it might hurt, you know some of the Times, feel bad that you don't know something and you feel that you're not encouraged enough, and that's why I um created this systematic approach for you in order to make your mind and your mindset Um prepared for a learning technology, to have some meaningful reason to let go of the limitating mindsets and then coming and starting this path. But Um, yeah, it is true, every new thing, learning every new thing, is Um hard and you need to know that, you need to be prepared for that and you need to know that, as an empowered woman, it's maybe good to uh, take the full responsibility and start in this path of learning technology, and I wish you success in this path and I know that after a while you would feel great because you would feel you, you would practically feel confident, and that's very, very helpful in your relationship, in your self esteem and everything related to that. Even it can, Um, boost the quality of Your Motherhood Journey. So that's very, very helpful. And in the last step, I want you to start small. Don't consider yourself as someone who need to be a techno film in less than six months. You know, don't ever believe the advertisements. Don't ever believe something like that. And please start small, please start from the fundamentals and the basics and then build other things over them. And as the bonus point that I wanted to tell you in the very beginning, I promised you that I want to tell you some bonus point. Um, I want to tell you that, as a result of all of the benchmark and research that I had, Um, I've designed a comprehensive syllabus or learning technology and making peace with technology for the women, and I call it...
